Reservoir

01/03/2011: Work has finally started on construction of the reservoir and will take some 10 weeks to complete
Removing the stumps which are then stacked to one side in ‘eco piles’
After the topsoil was removed to one side the first shaping took place
The centre being hollowed out and the banks being formed

A deep trench is dug through the bank so that a monitoring pipe can be installed to make sure that water is not leaking through the liner once installed.
A one metre wide and deep ledge if formed around the lip of the reservoir
Carly stands in the bottom of the reservoir
A length of poly pipe is connected to the blade of the mole plough prior to crossing the 17th fairway. This pipe will both supply the reservoir and act as the out let when required.
As well as the pipe being drawn in below the surface, two cables are fed in with it. These cables are for controls and power for a re- circulating pump.
This is the point the new pipework from the reservoir joins in with the irrigation pipework. A pretty sticky job!

Numerous holes had to be dug to avoid the various services as well as crossing the stream

The reservoir one year after the start of construction now nearly full .
