Roll-Ups
There are two weekday roll-ups open to all members. The Tuesday Boys, who as the name implies, meet every Tuesday at approximately twelve noon and
the Friday Boys who meet at the same time on a Friday.
There are no restrictions regarding handicaps, age, length of membership or commitment
to be a regular participant at either or both of these get-togethers. Play fifty
two Tuesdays and Fridays a year or just when you can. They provide an ideal opportunity
for members to broaden their circle of friends and playing partners.
These roll-ups also provide the opportunity to invite any prospective new members
to play so that they have an opportunity to view the club in a relaxed and informal
manner and perhaps obtain further support for their application.
The Tuesday Boys is now in its third decade. To play, call Jim Steiner, or Ron Wood if Jim is
not available, on a Tuesday morning before 10.00 am. A weekly entry fee of £2.00
pays for an annual lunch in July, a dinner in October and prizes throughout the
year.
Players meet informally in the lounge bar dressed for golf. Following a drink,
lunch is served in the dining room with a choice of ‘dish of the day’ or soup.
The golf is played in foursomes match play with partners and opponents organised
by Jim or Ron. The matches are played for a traditional £1.00 per corner stake.
If you wish to play the following week underline your name on the starting sheet.
Tea is available and must be pre-ordered.
Friday Boys is a more recent roll-up and played very much in the spirit of a light-hearted
precursor to the weekend. In this instance players meet in the Spike Bar at approximately
12 noon dressed for golf. A selection of sandwiches and a glass or two of rosé
wine is served at a cost of £10.
To play call Peter Higton or Adrian Hope on a Friday morning before 10.00 am.
There is no entry fee and no stakes to play for unless privately agreed.
Depending on the time of the year golf commences at approximately 1.00 pm and
is played similarly to Tuesdays in foursomes match play with partners and opponents
organised by Peter.
