About Us
Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club is a traditional members' Club with two 18 hole
Courses – The Old, which is ranked as one of the top 100 in the British Isles,
and The West.
Founded in 1888, the Clubhouse was built 5 years later and parts of it still
remain remarkably unchanged today. It is this combination of a golf course that
has bred many champions and the charm of its Clubhouse, together with its small
membership, that has resulted in Royal Ashdown retaining its reputation for being
one of the premier clubs in the UK.
Royal Ashdown remains a stronghold of foursomes golf, although arrangements can
sometimes be made with the Secretary for those who prefer to play three and four
balls.
The quality of the Courses, the reputation of the dining rooms and the friendly
ambience of the Club, makes it a favourite venue for Old Boys' matches, society
days and corporate events. Today that is exemplified by the selection of the Old
Course by the R&A to host Open Championship Regional Qualifying rounds and
by the EGU to stage the 2007 amateur international match between England and Spain.
The Club especially welcomes enquiries from organisers who are seeking a venue
that can provide two 18-hole Courses for golfers to play in one day.
